Overview

What happened in NEET PG 2022

NBEMS invited applications on 15 January 2022 for an exam on 12 March 2022, with the result due by 31 March. On 4 February 2022, following a Ministry of Health and Family Welfare letter of 3 February, it moved the exam to 21 May 2022 and extended the application window to 25 March. The notice does not give a reason for the change.

The eligibility rules moved too. The bulletin required internship to be completed by 31 May 2022; on 16 February NBEMS extended this to 31 July 2022, again on a Ministry letter. A later edit window let applicants update their nationality, category, EWS and PwD details.

The exam was held on 21 May 2022 from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM, with 200 questions as in 2021. NBEMS declared scores and ranks on 1 June 2022, and said that after reviewing every question, two had been found technically incorrect or to have more than one correct option, so all candidates who appeared received full marks for both. The merit list for All India 50% quota seats followed on 13 July 2022, and the qualifying percentiles were lowered on 20 October 2022.

What 2022 shows

What NEET PG 2022 shows about the exam process

  1. Dates and eligibility can move after you apply

In 2022 the exam moved by more than two months and the internship cut-off by two months after applications had opened. Keep checking NBEMS's notices, not only the bulletin, until the exam.

  2. Eligibility can widen after the result

The qualifying percentiles were lowered more than four months after the result. A lowered cut-off makes more candidates eligible for counselling; it does not change anyone's rank.
